S Ø S K E N Studios @ TFW

This year at Toronto Fashion Week I had the best views of the runway. There was one show in particular that really stood out to me, it was the Sosken Studios collection of statement outerwear. I had a front row seat to the show, where I proudly wore a coat cut just for me from the FW16 collection!

Before the runway show

The show was amazing, no detail had been overlooked. The remixed Adventure Club music, the miniature lights outlining the runway, the hair, the face-framing sunglasses, and of course the fur- there was so much that set this show apart from others.

I interviewed the Montreal-based designer back stage at TFW. Her inspiration behind the collection involved creating a statement coat for everyday wear. Living in Canada I know first hand that the jacket is the final thing that you put on and the first thing that people see. So it’s a critically important part of our wardrobe. The collection features many pieces that transition well through the unpredictable seasons.

Here are some fast facts:

-Sosken is the Norwegian word for “sister”

-The collection has a modern Scandinavian influence

-Ms. Minicucci has founded many highly successful labels – Marisa Minicucci, M Siamo and Minicucci x Marcanio.

Thank you to Sosken Studios, here’s to redefining Canadian outerwear!
