Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum
Recently I was introduced to the Korean skincare brand Sulwhasoo. I've always loved Korean skincare and I was so excited to learn about the First Care Activating Serum- a now essential first step in my skincare routine. Sulwhasoo is by no secret definition, a heritage luxury beauty brand of over 80 years, belonging to South Korea. It is highly regarded and even gifted to important and often times royal figures visiting South Korea.
I introduced my audience to the Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion EX, and the First Care Activating Serum on my Instagram stories, and I couldn't believe the incredible response that I received. I had so many follow up questions which I happily answered, and so I wanted to elaborate for all to access on my blog. As I demonstrated on my stories, the Perfecting Cushion went on beautifully and felt lightweight, with the perfect amount of coverage. From the first use I knew it was a winning product. However, I knew the serum would take some time to try so I decided to review it here after 30 days of use.
I was actually pleasantly surprised upon my first use of the product. It smells wonderful, it feels light, and it makes you take a moment to breathe. Yes, breathe! When you apply the serum you are instructed to cup both hands over your face for a moment. I can honestly say this is my favourite step in my skincare routine and something I now look forward to doing each time. When I say 'pleasantly surprised' for my first use, I mean after the very first usage. I woke up the next morning with skin that I can only describe as glowing. My skin felt healed in a sense, or maybe balanced is a better word. As if the product was somehow defending my skin against external factors (dry winter air, hormones, that delicious taro milk tea I had the night before!).
You apply the serum as the first step after cleansing, yes this includes before using toner, which initially concerned me a bit. However, this really is part of the process and is intentional, and it is designed to enhance the effects of any products following. The First Care Activating Serum EX is part of Sulwhasoo’s Essential range (yellow and white packaging), and is designed for dehydrated, unbalanced skins to help with preventing the first signs of aging.
After 30 days of using the product I am fully satisfied and even surprised at the way it has improved my skin tone and texture. First Care Activating Serum EX is filled with botanical extracts and medicinal herbs used in traditional Asian medicine, and therefore I can definitely justify the higher price point.
